Originally from California, Ben relocated to Floyd in 2015 to begin high school. Floyd County High School presented a fantastic opportunity for Ben to fully immerse himself in the trades. Joe Tesaru introduced Ben into the world of traditional wood working and craftsmanship, an influence that can be seen in many of our projects. Doug Thompson taught Ben the complexities of welding, allowing him to earn a multitude of certifications in the industry. Most importantly, Ross Snead mentored Ben in and outside of school in nearly every aspect of construction. His building trades program in school taught building codes, technical knowledge, construction related math, and offered hands on experience. Outside of school Ben assisted on Mr. Snead on a variety of projects, allowing for full emersion and real-world experience. Ben also worked with a handful of other contractors during his high school years. After high school Ben opened a small handyman business on the side while pursuing furthered technical education at NRCC. This business quickly blossomed into Esensten Construction and a partnership with his long-time peer and best friend Nate was born. While not on the job Ben enjoys traveling the US, back country hiking, and boating.

Before going into business Nate worked for several contractors and tradesman in the area building homes, gaining an in depth understanding of plumbing and electrical, and installing septic systems. While not on the job, Nate enjoys building and restoring projects cars and spending time with his rescue animals.
